The buzz in anti-aging is all about tweakments—small adjustments that give you a fresh look without it being obvious. Beauty expert Alice Hart-Davis says tweakments are all about subtlety. They’re cosmetic procedures that go beyond facials but aren’t as extreme as surgery. Think Botox, fillers, skin-peels, laser treatments, and more. These non-invasive or minimally invasive treatments provide noticeable but temporary results. They make you look better without making it obvious you’ve had work done, as long as you choose the right doctor.
Having written a book called “The Tweakments Guide: Fresher Face,” and launching a website, I’ve been talking about tweakments a lot. The site, www.thetweakmentsguide.com, explains these procedures, how they work, and helps you decide if they’re right for you. Plus, it features a list of the best practitioners across the country. Many people are still confused about what tweakments are, so I’m working to change that by encouraging open and honest discussions.
When I first started writing about these procedures 20 years ago, they were quite secretive. People thought it was shocking to inject something like Botox into their faces. But times have changed. The stigma has lessened, and more people are now interested in these treatments. The variety of procedures has also grown. Twenty years ago, it was mainly collagen injections and Botox. Now there are laser facials, ultrasound treatments, microneedling, and even injectable moisturizers that rejuvenate the skin for six months.
Interest in non-surgical cosmetic treatments is definitely on the rise. A Mintel report found that 43% of people surveyed were interested in trying one. Initially, tweakments were considered anti-aging measures meant for an older crowd. But now, they are used to enhance features at any age—like boosting lip shape for young women or defining the jawline for both men and women. Treatments like Profhilo boost skin hydration, and ultrasound therapy offers a subtle, non-surgical facelift.
Younger people today don’t hesitate to talk about these treatments or show off their results on social media. More practitioners are offering tweakments across the country. However, the lack of regulation means some practitioners have very little training. If you’re looking for a reliable practitioner, check out those registered on my website—they’re all people I trust.
